A senior living search often begins with more questions than answers. We listen to your loved one’s care needs, daily routine, budget and preferred location, then help narrow the choices to settings that fit.
We support community comparisons and tours, help you ask about staffing, care, safety and fees, and remain involved through selection, transition and follow-up. Whether you are planning ahead or facing a near-term move, you have a local guide.
Assisted Living — Support with daily activities such as bathing, dressing and medication assistance, with services varying by community and assessed needs.
Memory Care — A structured setting for people living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. We help families evaluate staff training, routines, safety and individualized support.
Independent Living — A community lifestyle for older adults who want fewer household responsibilities, social opportunities and convenient amenities. Confirm what care services are available if needs change.
Residential Assisted Living — Smaller, home-style settings that may appeal to families seeking a more intimate environment. We help compare staffing, licensing, care capabilities and overall fit.
Dan Harrah is a licensed Arizona Assisted Living Manager and former Executive Director with more than 14 years of senior healthcare experience, including leadership in assisted living and memory care communities.
That experience helps families look beyond a brochure to the questions that matter: who provides care, how changing needs are handled, what the monthly bill includes and whether a setting feels right. HAS serves Phoenix families and communities throughout Maricopa County with practical, personal guidance.
ALM stands for Assisted Living Manager. Dan’s experience managing communities gives families a practical perspective on care assessments, staffing, daily operations and communication during a move.
We help families across Phoenix, including Arcadia, the Biltmore area, Central Phoenix, North Central Phoenix, North Phoenix, Desert Ridge, Ahwatukee and West Phoenix.
The right location depends on more than a neighborhood name. We consider proximity to family, familiar routines, physicians and the level of care needed. We also support searches throughout Maricopa County when a nearby city offers a better fit.
1. Start with a conversation. Tell us about care needs, timing, budget and preferred location.
2. Narrow the options. We help identify care settings and communities to consider, confirming current availability and care capabilities.
3. Tour and compare. We help families ask about staffing, safety, services, fees and daily life.
4. Choose and transition. The family makes the decision; the community completes its assessment and admission requirements. We support the move and follow up afterward.
There is no single Phoenix price that fits every family. Costs vary by care setting, location, room type, services and the amount of assistance needed. Memory care and higher care needs can change the total monthly cost.
Compare the full bill: base rent, care fees, medication assistance, one-time community fees, transportation, supplies and possible future increases. Ask what is included, how care is assessed and what happens when needs change.
HAS helps families compare current community quotes against their budget. Contact HAS for options based on your situation rather than relying on a generic online estimate.
A discharge deadline can make a senior living search feel urgent. HAS helps families understand appropriate options and works with the family and discharge team, as authorized, to explore the next setting.
Share the expected timeline, care recommendations, mobility needs and budget with HAS. Community acceptance depends on assessment, staffing, care capabilities and availability. The treating team directs medical care and determines discharge readiness.
Families may use private funds, long-term care insurance or other benefits, depending on the setting and individual eligibility. Arizona’s Long Term Care System (ALTCS) may help eligible people with long-term care services, including services in approved assisted living settings.
ALTCS has medical and financial eligibility requirements. Participation, covered services and any resident costs need to be confirmed with AHCCCS, the health plan and the community. HAS can help you identify questions and appropriate resources; AHCCCS determines eligibility.
You work with a local advisor who brings experience from inside Arizona senior living communities. We take time to understand your priorities, help you evaluate options and stay involved through the transition.
How HAS is paid
Our guidance is free to families. Harrah Advisory Services receives compensation from a senior living community only when your family chooses that community and successfully moves in. Before deciding, ask HAS whether a community compensates us and how that arrangement applies to the options you are considering.
You remain in control of the decision. Our role is to help you make it with clarity and confidence.
Is HAS free for Phoenix families?
Yes. Our guidance is free to families. HAS is compensated by a community only when a family chooses it and successfully moves in.
Can you help if I live outside Arizona?
Yes. We can help you compare Phoenix options for a loved one, coordinate questions and support the local search.
How do we know which care setting is appropriate?
We discuss daily support needs, preferences and budget. Communities assess care needs before admission; medical recommendations come from the treating team.
Will you help us tour communities?
Yes. We support tours and help families evaluate care, staffing, safety, fees, location and overall fit.
Can you help with an urgent discharge?
Contact HAS with the expected timeline. We help explore options, while availability and admission depend on the community’s assessment and capacity.
Can you help us understand costs or ALTCS?
We help compare current quotes and identify payment questions. AHCCCS determines ALTCS eligibility, and the plan and community confirm participation and costs.
When dementia changes daily life, families need clear questions and a thoughtful comparison of care. Explore our Memory Care guide, then speak with HAS about routines, staffing, safety and the support your loved one needs.

You do not have to sort through every community alone. Tell HAS what your family needs, where you want to be and how soon help is needed. We will help you understand the choices and take the next step.
